Site Visit #2: BMW Mini and Oxford

Our second site visit was to the BMW Mini Factory in Oxford.

We left Courtfield Garden apartments at 6:45am by coach in order to take the 9am tour. See: https://www.mini.co.uk/en_GB/home/explore.html

Thanks to Brian Koehler, Director of Student Engagement in the College of Engineering for providing the sponsorship for this trip!

We had some time in the Mini Museum before the tour. Then we were able to go to two separate parts of the plant and see Minis being made. After the tours, we were able to spend some time in the Mini shop and the museum again. We even got to sit in a Mini with steering on the right.

We then had a presentation by Jeurgen Ziegler and Lindsey about globalization, communication, and procurement. Students asked excellent questions and everything that Jeurgen and Lindsey said during their presentation and the Q&A session directly supports what Dr. V-P and I are teaching in the classroom!

Our coach driver dropped us off in the city center of Oxford for lunch and we had a few hours to wander around.  Dr. V-P and I even stumbled upon a film crew for Inspector Lewis and watched some rehearsals and some filming of a short outside scene.

Everyone met back up at 4pm to return to London.

I'll add student comments about the trip later!
