This beach is not like the beaches we are used to back in the Carolinas with warm, soft sand ready for sand castles and digging, this beach is made of pebbles. At first we were a little confused as to what we should do and if it was normal to lay down on pebbles. But after realizing there were about 200 others on the beach tanning and playing, we decided we should go for it and have an adventure. I do not advise walking barefoot on the pebbles, but laying down on a towel on the pebbles was almost like getting a massage! We all layed out and tanned in the warm sun for about four hours before deciding we all slightly resembled lobsters and cleaned up our things to move on to our next activity. When we were packing up, I noticed a family a few feet away that had two young boys. The boys were playing in the pebbles and one had a shovel. I thought it was pretty funny because he was digging in pebbles and those shovels are meant to be used on sandy beaches. I'm sure they were in the same boat as us, expecting a beach similar to the ones back home. Below is a picture of the group after being in the sun for a few hours.
For our last two hours, we spent our time meandering around the market area along the beach. There were multiple shops that sold handmade jewelry, art, and tacky souvenirs that said "Brighton" on them. I purchased a ring that was made by an Indian man and Emily purchased a piece of artwork from a local artist. We were both happy with our purchases because now we can remember such a wonderful day! ~Nicole
